Our story
Burak Tamac is the founder and CEO of S2Reason. He started the company after eight years as a paralegal at a New Jersey personal-injury litigation firm, where he prepared and filed roughly 5,000 PIP arbitrations himself through Forthright, the administrator New Jersey designates for no-fault dispute resolution, along with the medical billing summaries and expert reports behind them. Every system here began as work he did by hand: PIP Engine applies the New Jersey fee schedule the way he applied it line by line, and Brief Agent drafts the arbitration submission he used to write. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from Istanbul Bilgi University (2020) and is an adjunct professor at Montclair State University, where he has taught introduction to politics, international relations, and politics and technology.
Why “System 2” thinking
The company is named after behavioral economics' concept of deliberate, methodical reasoning. Most automation tools operate with fast, intuitive processing that misses context and produces error-prone outputs. What is S2Reason?
S2Reason builds private, HIPAA-compliant document processing systems for two kinds of client. The first is anyone who has to defend what a medical bill should have cost: certified coders, nurses, physicians and bill review firms who write expert reports on medical charges. They use Desk, which prices every charge line and names the source behind each figure. The second is New Jersey PIP law firms, which use PIP Engine, Brief Agent and the Provider Portal to process no-fault billing disputes and file arbitrations. RecordFlow, which sorts a stack of medical records into one file ordered by date of service, runs inside both of those systems and is also a self-serve tool anyone can use on its own. Desk and the PIP systems run in a dedicated, single-tenant cloud on AWS or Google Cloud under a complete BAA compliance chain.
S2Reason also publishes eight free rate lookups, open to anyone, among them the Medicare Rate Lookup, the NJ PIP Fee Schedule Lookup and the Ambulance Fee Schedule Lookup. The other five cover Medicare’s DMEPOS, clinical lab, Part B drug, anesthesia and surgery center schedules. All eight read the same published fee schedules our systems price against.
